A man with a history of violent behavior is accused of assaulting an employee at a local hospital.
Just before 9:30 pm, Portsmouth Police responded to Southern Ohio Medical Center for a report that a patient had assaulted an employee. The patient was sedated, but police said they would return to interview him when he was conscious.
Around 11:30 pm, the hospital told police they were ready to release the man. An officer took the man into custody and took him to the police station. He invoked his right to remain silent, and officers booked Jasper Jabez Padgett into the Scioto County Jail on an assault charge.

Padgett, 21, was arrested back in 2019 in Cabell County for trespassing, battery, domestic battery, and retaliation against a public employee or official. In 2022, he faced charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and retaliation against a public official in Cabell County as well.
