Patricia Kitts-Gee, 78, passed away on January 16, 2026, after a long battle with illness at CareCore at Westmoreland in Chillicothe.
Patty was a 1965 graduate of Portsmouth High School. She furthered her education by attending LPN school in Ohio, then finalized her career path as a 1985 graduate, obtaining her Registered Nursing license while residing in Connecticut. She worked as a head nurse in Hartford, CT, for many years before returning to Portsmouth. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the family appreciates that they included her in the weekly sacrament by bringing it to her in the facility.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gee; a granddaughter, Ashley Isaac; her twin brother, Richard Cooksey; her mother, Ruth Lusk Shy; and her stepfather, Malcolm Shy, whom she considered her father.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Shannon Lucas (Charley), and her grandchildren, Dylan Isaac, Daniella Isaac, Brianne Christian, and Dakota Lucas. Also surviving her is Lee Anne Cooksey, a niece she loved dearly.
The family wishes to thank National Church Residence Hospice for their support during this difficult time, especially their nurse, Clarissa, and pastor, Aaron. We also want to thank the staff at Westmoreland for their care and patience over the last couple of years…. Special thanks to nurses Mike, Ashley, and Hannah, all of whom went above and beyond their job descriptions to care for Patty.
Per her wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends !
Please make donations in her name to the National Church Residence for Seniors and Hospice in place of sending flowers.
