Peggy Jo (Hammond) Martin, 63, of South Portsmouth, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 23, 1962, to the late Delmar Hammond and Geneva Parks Hammond.
Peggy was passionate about her grandchildren, enjoyed searching for Indian artifacts and arrowheads, and loved playing card games.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Drake; her great-granddaughter, Addligh Jo Truitt; her brother, Keith Hammond; and her sisters, Sandy Lyons, Judy Hammond, and Maysel Cook.
Peggy is survived by her son, Jason (Amber) Hammond of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; her daughters, Jennifer (Mark) Vaughn of South Portsmouth, Kentucky, and Jessica Smith of Portsmouth, Ohio; six grandchildren: Drake Truitt, Xavier Cantrell, Kyrah Smith, Jordan Litz, Jayce Litz, and Jaxon Litz; and five great-grandchildren. She is also remembered by her very special friend, Karen Davis, along with several other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home, located at 311 James Hannah Drive, South Shore, Kentucky.
