Phillip Albert Zaayer, 93 of Otway passed away on Saturday March 29, 2025 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born on July 25, 1931 in Carroll to the late Jesse A Zaayer and the late Dorothy V Benson Zaayer. On October 11, 1954 he was united in marriage to Kathryn J Griffith Zaayer of Otway.
In addition to his wife, Phillip is survived by his children; Vickie Morris of Lakeview, Thomas R Zaayer of Village Grove, West Virginia, Phillip C “Chuck” (Becky) Zaayer of Somerset, and Melissa (Dan) Powell of Otway; grandchildren, Brad (Sara) Oakley of Lakeview, Jaime (Steve) Spofford of Belle Center, Jessica (Brad) Dimmerling of Lowesville, Connor Zaayer of Village Grove, West Virginia, Wyatt Zaayer of Village Grove, West Virginia, Rebekah Love of Washington, Phillip C Zaayer II of Ingleside, Texas, Steven Carnahan of Port Fort Lavaca, Texas, Jennifer Kelley of Fort Myers, Florida and Daniel Rife of Aransas Pass, Texas, Ben (Jennifer) Powell of Rosemount and Nikki (Nathan) Montavon of McDermott; great grandchildren, Lindsey, Stevie, MaKenna, Hayden, Sara, Kenli, Madison, Brooklyn, Brady, Madalyn, Katelynn, Rachael, Michael, Rebecca, Annabelle, Alexa, Amelia, Helena, and Bella; 10 great great grandchildren with one soon to arrive. In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his grandchildren; Holly D Oakley, Thomas “Curtis” Zaayer, Danielle Zaayer and Sandra Carnahan; siblings, Jack Daniels, James Zaayer, John Zaayer, Virgil Zaayer and Rebecca Hutchinson; son-in-law, Randy Oakley and daughter-in-law Lynda Zaayer.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 with Pastor Jody Harr officiating at Oswego Cemetery in Otway. Military honors will be conducted by the William Baker Post #363 of the American Legion.
