Think your phone is safe when you drop it off for repairs? Think again! A Gallia County man has pleaded GUILTY to 40 felony charges after secretly downloading private – and sometimes illegal – photos from customers’ phones.
THE CREEP & HIS CRIMES
Calvin Jordan, 27, of Gallipolis, worked at Direct Computing Solutions (DC Solutions) when he stole personal photos from over 40 customers – including minors!
The Charges:
- 3 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor (F2)
- 1 count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material (F5)
- 36 counts of unauthorized access to computers & phones (F5)
🗓️His Fate? Jordan faces serious prison time and must register as a Tier II sex offender after his sentencing on March 31.
🚔Attorney General Dave Yost didn’t hold back: “Violating your customers’ privacy isn’t just creepy – it’s illegal.”
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF & YOUR PHONE!
Before taking your phone in for repair:
Back up & wipe – Save your files and do a factory reset before handing over your phone.
Use a password or encryption – Protect sensitive files with extra security.
Remove private photos & data – If you must keep them, store them securely elsewhere.
Check repair shop reviews – Look for trusted, reputable businesses.
Watch what they access – If possible, stay in the store while repairs are being done.
REMEMBER: Your phone is your life – don’t let a predator use it against you! Stay vigilant, stay private, and share this warning with your friends!
