Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an incident involving four-wheelers and a pit bull in West Portsmouth around 7 p.m.
A caller said a group of children were riding the vehicles on Calverts Lane, and a man came out with a pit bull and she suspected he planned to have the dog attack them.
Officers advised the woman that the children should not be riding in the road and that it is not a crime for a person to have their dog on a leash in their yard.
Police learned the man did advise the kids that the dog would bite, but they considered that a fair warning. The kids were gone by the time officers arrived, and the woman who made the initial complaint refused to tell officers who the children were.
