Police answered a call from the Family Dollar on 11th Street at 12:37 pm about a man slumped over in front of the building. Witnesses said his dog tried to bite someone who was walking by.
When officers arrived on the scene, they said the man appeared to be taking a nap, and they did not find his dog to be aggressive. They advised him to get his things together and move on.
At 5 pm, a 7th Street caller reported a known suspect sleeping on their porch. However, they left before the officers arrived. A few minutes later, officers caught up with the suspect on 8th Street and took them into custody.
Around 11 pm, officers issued summons to two individuals spotted loitering in Tracy Park after hours. In response to a number of complaints about people camping in the park, police have been checking hourly for campers, and that seems to have cut down on the problem considerably.
At 8 pm, a caller reported a homeless woman hanging out behind businesses on Chillicothe Street. The owner of one of the businesses said the homeless woman could sleep behind her business for the night due to expected bad weather, but would have to be gone by the morning.
