The Portsmouth Police Department had officers responding to a series of calls ranging from suspicious activity to disorderly conduct across the city.
Porch Disturbance on 11th Street
Police were first called to 11th Street after a caller reported a woman sitting on a porch yelling and talking to herself. The caller described her as wearing a brown cowboy hat, blue coat, jeans, and brown boots while carrying a black bag.
An officer spoke with the woman and sent her on her way.
Suspicious Activity Leads to Arrest
Around 3:30 p.m., police were called to the area behind Sunset Bowling Lanes after a caller reported a man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
When officers investigated, they discovered the man had an open warrant. He was taken into custody and booked into the Scioto County Jail.
Fall in CVS Parking Lot Ends with Disorderly Conduct Charge
At about 4 p.m., officers and EMS responded to the CVS Pharmacy parking lot after a caller reported a man had fallen multiple times.
When first responders arrived, officers took the man into custody for disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Scioto County Jail.
Running in Traffic on Gallia Street
Around 7:45 p.m., a caller reported a man dressed in dark clothing running in and out of traffic near O’Reilly Auto Parts on Gallia Street.
Callers said the man was waving his hands and eventually moved toward a nearby Speedway.
Officers located the man and arrested him on charges of disorderly conduct and possession of drug abuse instruments.
Suspicious Person at Hudson House
At about 9:30 p.m., police were called after a man in a black hoodie was reportedly trying to get inside the Hudson House Apartments on 5th Street. The man left the area before officers arrived.
Unwanted Visitor at Findlay Manor
Around 10 p.m., officers were dispatched to Findlay Manor Apartments after reports of a homeless man inside the lobby with a cart full of belongings.
Police responded to the scene and addressed the situation.
Calls involving suspicious behavior, disorderly conduct, and welfare concerns are among the most common issues officers handle during weekend shifts.
