When CPS was unable to help, officers had to scramble to assist a troubled runaway plus a couple gets caught in the act at Spartan Stadium.
Strange Man Frightens 17th Street Woman
A worried 17th Street resident contacted police when a heavy-set man in a red hat kept knocking at her door, refused to identify himself, and wouldn’t leave.
She said he was currently sitting on trash cans watching her apartment.
When police arrived on the scene, he told them he was trying to contact someone in the apartment to get some tobacco.
Police told him to move along.
Trouble on the School Bus
Police responded to Portsmouth Elementary School at 4 pm to speak to a woman about an incident on the school bus.
The incident involved the woman’s eight-year-old child and a sixth-grader. The officer took information for a report.
Suspicious Activity
Portsmouth Ambulance asked police to assist them at the Taco Bell. They had a psych patient who was making threats around 4:15 pm.
Hot and Heavy at Spartan Stadium
Just after 5 pm, a caller reported a suspicious vehicle at Spartan Stadium with individuals who apparently had drugs on them. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man and woman having sex in the vehicle.
The pair were of age and the vehicle was blocked from public view. The officer told them to do their business elsewhere.
Hey, That’s My Stuff
A woman contacted police at 4:21 pm to report her marriage license and Social Security Number were stolen.
Angry Ex-Employee Blocks Driveway
Officers were called to the McDonald’s on Gallia Street at 6 pm when an angry ex-employee blocked the drive-thru.
The woman told police she came to get her paycheck but was told that she could only pick it up during certain times.
They would not allow her into the building, so she decided to stay in the drive-thru. When an officer spoke to the manager, she was able to give the woman her paycheck. The unhappy ex-employee went on her way.
CPS Refuses To Take Custody of Troubled Runaway
A brother contacted police at 6:30 pm to say he located his runaway little sister at a Union Street Home and that the girl was thinking of harming herself.
Police confirmed the girl is a runaway from Bath County. Police spoke with a Kentucky social services worker who said they couldn’t come to get the child. CPS said they would not house the child for the night.
The Kentucky social worker arranged for SOMC to keep the child on a psych hold for the night.
