New details on the human trafficking crackdown that landed four local men in jail for soliciting.
We now know that it was all part of a statewide effort called “Operation Time’s Up” and that the Southern Ohio Organized & Major Crimes Task Force conducted undercover operations in Lawrence and Scioto County.
While the Portsmouth Operation centered on busting johns looking to buy sex, over in Lawrence County, the focus was on rescuing victims of human trafficking.
As a result, Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman says six victims were located and offered medical and social services.
The operation also netted a suspected pimp, 25-year-old Jonathan Murphy of Bonser Run Road in Portsmouth. Officers charged him with compelling prostitution.
His bond was set at $25,000. Sheriff Thoroughman said the operation uncovered information that would lead to further investigation and possibly more arrests.
Four suspects were arrested during the sting over the weekend.
Arrested were:
72-year-old Kline A. Hobstetter
49-year-old Robert Joshua Harris
55-year-old Ray Lee Vestal
60-year-old David Copas
Throughout the investigation, SCDN will monitor the developments and provide updates as necessary.
