Portsmouth Police weird crime

Portsmouth, Ohio officers responded to some WEIRD crime reports on Saturday. From a feud over a foot rub to a scooter stuck in an alley to people so drunk they couldn’t operate a door. My head is still spinning a little from some of these calls. Check out the highlights in these next 14 slides.

Ooops, Wrong Number

Just before 1:30 am, 911 received a call. No one was on the other end, but the dispatcher heard two men arguing on an open line and traced the call to a 16th Street address.

When officers arrived on the scene, they detected a heavy marijuana smell from the home. The woman who answered the door told police everything was fine. She accidentally called 911. Police said everything looked okay and left.

Stranger In My House

A Kendall Avenue resident called police at 1:36 am to report a burglary. The woman told police someone keeps coming into her apartment when she’s not there. She claimed the same thing happened at her previous address.

Officers advised her to put together a list of missing items and call back to file a report.

Maybe Stop Asking Her Over

A woman called police just before 9 am to report her boyfriend is threatening to beat her up. The argument turned out to be verbal. Disagreements between this pair is nothing new to police, they are frequently called in to answer complaints about the two. Officers advised the boyfriend to stop inviting her over.

At 1:16 pm, officers were called to Taco Bell for a report that the same woman took a credit card. When police spoke to her, she said she didn’t have the card and that the man was following her around.  Officers advised on how to report a stolen card and told the man to stop following her around.

  • A Hudson House resident reported a woman harassing and stealing from her. She wanted police to make the management change the locks. Officers advised they couldn’t do that but they did take a report.
  • At 10 pm, a resident of the Woodbine Apartment called police to report her brother dragged her by the hair. She claimed it was the last thing she remembered. Now, she is missing $300 in cash and her cell phone. Police took a report.

DOA

A woman called police at 9:30 am to report an unresponsive man at a Waller Street apartment. Unfortunately, he was dead. Officers notified the coroner and the victim’s family.

Police said there were no signs of drugs or paraphernalia and no signs of injury. The Montgomery County Medical Examiner will do the autopsy.

Scooter Won’t Scoot

A man notified police he’d found a woman stuck in an alley at 5th and Court because her scooter’s power source died. He pushed her up onto the sidewalk but didn’t know what to do next.

By the time police responded to the scene, he’d fixed the woman’s scooter.

You Could Thank Me For This Foot Rub

A foot rub gone wrong turned into a police matter at 11:33 am. A man threw a fit and threatened to kill himself.

He was upset because he’d rubbed a woman’s feet and she wasn’t properly grateful.  Police found no sign of self-harm and the man denied any intent to hurt himself. Officers informed him that marital problems shouldn’t become police matters.

Bicycle Battle

Another feuding couple involved police at 11:39 am. Officers responded to 23rd street on a report of a disturbance.

They found a woman sitting on the sidewalk crying next to a bicycle. She said her ex-boyfriend dragged her, beat her up, and took her phone.

She said her bicycle went missing a week ago. She told the ex that if someone found the bike and brought it back, she’d pay them.  The ex texted her and claimed to have found the bike. She agreed to meet him to retrieve the bike.

When she arrived, she said he accused her of inviting him just to accuse him of stealing the bike. When she tried to walk away with the bicycle, he began to follow her.  When he wouldn’t stop, she decided to call the police. He took the phone away from her and fled down the Scioto Trail.  Police took a report and began to look for the man.

Shots Fired

The last call of the day came in at 11:59 pm. Two callers from Dorman Drive said someone drove past and fired gunshots, probably into the air.

No one was there when officers arrived.
