A drunken cowboy, an alleged dog-napping, and a promise to open a can of whoop-ass kept Portsmouth Police busy on Monday. Officers also dealt with serious matters like ODs and a stolen weapon. ODs and Drugs
- At 3:48 am, police were called to the Royal Inn on Kendall Avenue for a report of an overdose in a vehicle. The man refused treatment.
- Police were called to 6th Street at 12:22 after someone OD’s in partially burned garage in an alley between 5th and 6th Street. The subject was treated but refused transport to the hospital.
- At 1 pm, officers were called to Harding avenue for a non-responsive woman. When she woke up her judgment was still impaired. She was combative, so officers assisted with placing her in the ambulance.
- There was an overdose report on 5th Street at 9:40 pm. Police took the report.
Chase is On
At 4 am, police were notified by the Ohio State Patrol of a man in a blue Mustang chasing a woman in a red Mustang.
PPD officers, along with Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted to be on the lookout.
The man was allegedly chasing a woman he’d assaulted earlier.
Stolen Firearm Found
Officers were called to the Diamond Gem Lending Company on Chillicothe to assist in the recovery of a stolen firearm. The .22 caliber Magnum was stolen from Mesa Arizona.
Officers confiscated the weapon and will ship it back to Arizona.
This Property is Condemned
Police were called to 5th Street a 9:26 am for a report of someone trying to get into a garage that had been secured by the Health Department.
Turns out the individuals both had warrants from New Boston. NBPD came to pick them up.
Dog Gone
At 12:29, a Hudson House resident called to complain that her husband took her dog to Kentucky. The two are going through a divorce. Police advised this was a civil matter.
Officers were called to King’s Daughters Medical Center at 1:42 pm for a report of a dog bite.
Ass Whooping Incoming
- A man notified officers just before 1 pm that his phone was stolen from the Oasis Convenient Mart on 17th Street.
- He claimed he put his phone on the counter while checking out. The guy said he saw a suspect leaving the store, then noticed his phone was gone. He told officers if he could find the suspect, he’d “whip his ass.”
- Police took a report.
Cry For Help
- Police were called at 2 pm for a report of a man threatening to kill himself.
- The man had called 9-1-1 and expressed suicidal thoughts.
- Officers managed to ping his phone location and locate the man.
- They convinced him to go to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile at Monkey Bomb Tattoos
Just before 6 pm, officers were called to Money Bomb Tattoos on Walnut Street.
A tow driver was attempting to repossess a vehicle.
The vehicle’s owner attempted to fight him to prevent the repo.
Person With A Gun… Or Not
- At 7:41 police got a call that someone was walking near Aldi on Gallia Street with a rifle. It turned out to be a paintball gun. Its owner was advised that carrying it around might cause some concerns
- At 9:18 a juvenile asked to speak to an officer regarding an incident that happened in Wayne Hills earlier in the day. Another man called back ten minutes later to say his wife’s cousin had been threatened with a gun by a boyfriend. He advised the victim to come to the Police Department to make a report.
Meanwhile at Speedway
- Police were called to the Speedway on Gallia just after midnight on Tuesday.
- There was a man in a cowboy hat yelling at people.
- Officers said the man was intoxicated. A friend agreed to take him home.
