1. PPD Investigates Child Sex Crime
Portsmouth Police initiated an investigation into an alleged child sex crime with potential ties to human trafficking, prompting immediate action and collaboration with the Organized Crime and Sex Trafficking Taskforce to pursue the case further.
PPD officers spoke with a CPS representative in reference to an alleged sex crime related to human trafficking.
Officers contacted a detective with the Organized Crime and Sex Trafficking Taskforce and turned the investigation over to them to follow up on the allegations.
The CPS worker should be commended for their ability to see the warning signs and determination to get all of the proper agencies involved to conduct a full investigation.
2. Grand Theft Auto on Kinneys Lane
Just before 5 am, a Kinneys Lane caller called the police to report that someone had just taken off with their car.
Officers took information for a report but could not locate the vehicle.
However, at 6:18 am, the car’s owner called the police to say they’d found the vehicle in the 1600 block of 5th Street.
Police recovered the car and released it to its rightful owner.
