Portsmouth Police Officers were called in to investigate two serious crimes over the weekend. While officers are always busy, most of their work lately involves minor break-ins, domestic incidents, and issues dealing with the homeless and mentally ill.
However, two more serious crimes came into play over the weekend.
On Saturday evening, officers received a call of 14 people fighting in a park in Wayne Hills. About an hour later, they got a call that a man had been shot. Police didn’t find a victim immediately, but they did observe fresh blood.
Officers detained one person for questioning, but it does not appear any arrests were made. Police took information for a report.
Just after midnight on Sunday, dispatch received a call from SOMC about a possible sexual assault. A detective responded to the scene and officers contacted CPS.
SCDN will continue to follow these stories and provide updates as more information becomes available.
