PPD: Kendall Avenue Confidential

Police couldn’t stay away from Kendall Avenue on Wednesday. They responded to call after call in the area including a man who took a tire iron to a guy he claimed took his dog. Dog Days

Just after midnight, police received a report from a Mabert Road man. He claimed a dog attempted to attack his dog on the sidewalk. Officers told him to call Animal Control in the morning.

A man was assaulted with a tire iron at the Oasis Convenient Mart at 11:23 am. The perp accused the victim of stealing his dog. The man refused treatment and did not want to press charges against his attacker.

Can’t We All Just Get Along

  • Police were called to Center Street at 12:14 am for a report of people fighting. When they got there, the female half of the argument told them the man had left and that the fight was just verbal. Police advised them to quiet down.
  • At 2 am, officers were called to High Street for people yelling behind a vacant house.
  • Callers informed police that multiple people were outside their vehicles on 10th Street. The people were allegedly accusing each other of cutting in line.  Police advised them to behave.
  • Officers answered a call of two women fighting on 29th Street. They were allegedly throwing rocks at each other. One woman was extremely agitated. Her dad had to calm her down and get her back inside her apartment.

Kendall Avenue Confidential

  • A caller told police that two young boys were trying to get into the window of an apartment on Kendall Avenue at 4:45 am. When officers arrived, they found an open window with a closed screen. With no evidence of a crime, the officers let it go.
  • A few minutes later at 5:02 am, police received another report from Kendall Avenue of two men following a woman.
  • Police were called to Woodbine Apartments just after 2 pm for a report of a man beating a woman. They were unable to locate them.
  • Just before 8 pm, a caller told police that a woman with a 10-year-old boy had passed out. The boy told officers his mom was just upset and crying.  The woman confirmed to the police that she was crying due to relationship issues.

Deep Sleep

Officers responded to 24th Street just before 11 am for a welfare check. A customer had a hair appointment with the resident but the woman didn’t show up at work.

When she knocked on the door, there was no answer.

Police were able to rouse the woman who was just in a deep sleep.

Guns and Drugs?

A woman called police just after noon to say that two men and a woman were after her. She claimed they were at the Oasis Convenient Mart and had drugs and guns on them. She said one of the men was after her because he wanted to have sex with her.

When police arrived, the subjects were gone. However, they had just had contact with one of the men half an hour earlier in connection with an argument on Mabert Road. When officers searched him at the time, he only had a pocket knife in his possession.

Whose Car is It?

Officers were called to Waller Street for a report of an abandoned black car. Police located the owner.

She advised them she sold the vehicle to a man. However, it was still in her name, so she is responsible for it.

Police transported her to pick up the vehicle.

House Check

  • Officers stopped by a condemned High Street House and noted that it needed to be re-secured and that the grass was four feet tall.
  • They also found several other cases of tall grass on High and Summit Streets.
  • Police checked out a condemned house on Timmonds and noted it needed to be boarded as well as the burned house in need of attention. They also noted several grass complaints.

Under The Influence

  • Officers responded to Findlay Street for a report of a man stumbling around just before 3 pm. No one was there when police arrived.
  • A caller reported a man acting high at the Speedway on Gallia. Officers released him to a sober party after he was placed on the Speedway barred list.
  • Officers were called to 17th Street at 9:41 pm for a report of a man in a green shirt overdosing. Police took the man home.
  • A drunken man refused to leave the McDonald’s parking lot just after 10 pm. Officers took him home to the Young Street Viaduct and released him to a friend.

Cry For Help?

At 2:42 pm, a caller asked police to check on a Mabert Road man who had threatened suicide. He claimed he had never said anything of the kind.

BOLO

Police issued a BOLO after a report of a woman jumping out of a truck on 24th Street. Witnesses said a man then assaulted her and forced her back into the truck.

They left the area before police arrived. Officers issued a BOLO to New Boston Police, The Scioto County Sheriff, and Ohio State Patrol.

Ride Home

Officers offered a woman a ride home after a caller reported her sitting slumped by a fence on 6th Street. They took her home to New Boston and released her to a responsible party.

And This Is Why You Don’t Lend Things

A woman called officers just before 6 pm to report a missing van. She claimed her uncle allowed a man to borrow his van five days ago. The man never returned it. She also said the man pointed a gun at her. Police took a report.

Missing Kids

A panicked mom called officers at 7 pm to report her 9 and 11-year-old sons missing from 16th Street. Officers located them at Tracy Park and took the mom to pick them up.

The family’s CPS case manager advised that their stepfather should leave the residence for the night.
