Meanwhile at Speedway

  • It appears Speedway on Gallia has picked up yet another diehard fan that doesn’t want to leave the property. Officers responded to a report of a woman who refused to leave at 3:39 am. She was on her way out when police arrived on the scene. They advised her to stay away from the store.
  • Police answered another call to Speedway at 5:33 am for a report of a shoplifter. The man agreed to pay for the items.

Tazed and Confused

Just before 5 am, a police chase ended with officers deploying a stun gun on the driver.  It all started at 4:52 am on 17th Street near the Oasis Convenient Mart.

The chase headed north on Mabert where a vehicle was struck then south on Mabert where a police car was hit. The chase continued onto 17th, High, Vinton, Hutchings, and 11th.

At one point someone tossed something out of the car. When police finally caught up with the driver, they had to TASER him in the driver’s seat because he tried to get away.  He was finally arrested around 6:30 am.

Racist Halloween Decorations?

Police answered a call to Hutchins Street about threats over social media just before 6 am. There was a disagreement over some Halloween decorations that someone felt were racist. She told police the décor was not racist.

At 10 am, officers received another complaint. The resident said she was still receiving threats about her Halloween decorations. She reported that people had threatened to shoot her and burn down her house.

Hey, That’s My Stuff!

Officers were called to a Findlay Street business at 7:30 am for a report of a catalytic converter stolen from a parked vehicle. However, a mechanic at the business saw the theft in progress and managed to recover the converter.

The suspects were driving a Chevy Trailblazer with Kentucky tags.

Drinking and Trading

You know you aren’t supposed to drink and drive. You should also not drink and trade. At 9:40 am, a Mound Street man called police to report he’d traded his Mazda to a man named Chris for a Pontiac Firebird.

He claimed the pair agreed to swap cars for a short time and then decide if they wanted to make the deal permanent. The guy also admitted that he was drunk at the time and couldn’t remember making the trade. His wife told him the trade was his idea.

He didn’t know if he signed his vehicle over or not. He also did not have a tag number or VIN for his car or the last name and address of the guy he traded it to.  Police said they would investigate further.

Packing a Pistol

  • Police answered a call to 10th Street about an apparently high man, dressed all in white with a pistol in his pocket at 10 am. Officers caught up with him at Kroger. They impounded the Glock in his pocket and arrested him.
  • At 10:52 am, police responded to a call at the Woodbine Apartments on Kendall Avenue. A caller reported a man in a car threatened to shoot them with a pistol.  However, witnesses said that a woman and man were arguing. The man told the woman to leave and as she was driving away she told him she’d report him for threatening her with a gun. Police found no weapon on the man.

Use Your Own Trashcan

If you’re planning on using someone else’s dumpster, you should at least get rid of stuff with your name on it first.

The Salvation Army Family Center informed police that people were using their dumpster. Those people left behind mail with their home address.  Police informed the people that the Salvation Army is willing to prosecute anyone illegally using their dumpster.

Spitting Mad

Police responded to the Valero Gas on Gallia at 11:26 am for a report of a drunk man arguing with someone.  Another person reported the drunken mad spit on him.

Police detained the guy but he seemed to be able to take care of himself. The people he bothered weren’t interested in pressing charges.
