CSX Railroad called for firefighters after tracks burst into flames near Highland Bend Road just after 4 am. Workers said a switch heater had caught fire and was shooting flames three feet into the air.
They asked that the fire department turn off the valves for two tanks near the fire. They had a service company on the way, but they were over an hour out.
Firefighters responded to the scene, turned off the valves, and put out the fire.
