Ralph Waldo Beabout, 100, of Waverly, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born July 22, 1923, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Earl McKinley and Katherine Addis Beabout.
In 1946 he was united in marriage to Lou Beabout who preceded him in death in 1994.
Surviving are a son, Dennis (Terrie) Beabout of Valparaiso, Florida; a daughter, Sandy (Dale) Colegrove of Waverly; grandchildren, Justin Beabout, Lolita Beabout, Ayela Weiss, Chris (Shannon) Harris, Sean (Stephanie) Harris, Katie (Eli) Colegrove and Ian (Tess) Colegrove; great-grandchildren, Elias Moreno, Alonna Moreno, Natalia Carrasquillo, Francis Weiss, Eden Weiss, Hannah Harris and Dixie Harris; and many close friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Harris, and a sister, Reta Brannen.
Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp in WWII, was a veteran of the Pacific Theater, and was part of the initial invasion in Okinawa, Japan. He was a graduate of Bridgeport High School where he played varsity football. He attended Denison University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. He retired after 43 years as a mechanical engineer at the Atomic Plant. Ralph was the oldest active member of the Pike County YMCA. He was an avid swimmer, reader, and OSU football fan. He was a real gentleman and extremely kind to everyone. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Professional Case Management nurses and staff for their care.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will follow at Evergreen Union Cemetery on Bridge Street. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
