Employees at an area rehab facility called the sheriff’s office after a woman returned from a visit with her kids with drugs in her possession.
When officers arrived at the South Point facility, staff told them the woman had been given a pass to spend time with her kids. They said that CPS workers had supervised the visit.
When the woman returned to the facility, staff said they found a hypodermic syringe and a baggie full of suspected narcotics in her jacket. The facility said they’d like to keep the woman in treatment if it was possible.
Officers spoke to the woman, who told them her children’s father had shown up to the visit and handed her the syringe and a baggie of heroin. The woman said she hadn’t used the drugs and was glad the facility had found it before she had the chance.
Officers confiscated the heroin and took information for a report. Though the officer planned to file charges, they said they would allow the woman to remain at the facility.
