Reports of Drive-By Shooting in Portsmouth
The Portsmouth 911 dispatch center received a call at 11:04 am reporting that a blue or black full-size truck shot at a vehicle at 11th and Young Streets
.
The phone continued to ring. Multiple cars scattered around the intersection prompted police to believe a victim was on the scene.
During this time, it was reported that the suspect vehicle was traveling on 8th St toward Kroger. According to witnesses, the driver was likely a black man wearing a white shirt.
The police looked for the suspect but did not find him immediately after numerous trucks were checked in the area.
Police then responded to a call from Speedway. It appears that this may have been the victim, but the specifics remain unclear.
The search for the truck continued. There was some confusion by witnesses if the license plates were from the state of Michigan or Maryland.
They checked the plates of several possible suspects with plates from out-of-state.
Security cameras from nearby businesses were examined by investigators. No information has been released as a result of that investigation.
At the time of this report, it appears there were indeed shots fired from a vehicle. Additionally, reports indicate that a potential victim has been identified.
Apparently, the suspect is still at large. There’s no official word on the victim’s condition.
