Rick Wilson, 67, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at SOMC. He was born December 8, 1955, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Charles Alton and Marie Frances Bond Wilson.
A 1974 graduate of Northwest High School, Rick was a highly respected supervisor/foreman for Roger Hemming Contractors for more than 45 years. He loved his work and was meticulous, taking pride in what he and his crew accomplished. With his magnetic personality, he truly never met a stranger, and was one of those special people who are referred to as an “all-around good guy”. Rick took great care of his yard and flowers, but his true passion was his family. He was a wonderful husband, proud father and devoted Papaw, preferring to spend free time with his family above anything else.
Surviving are his wife, Yolanda “Yodi” Dianne Day Wilson, whom he married November 1, 1985, in Portsmouth; his daughter & son-in-law, , Courtney and Jesse Mays of Lucasville; his grandson, Cooper Mays; two brothers, David (Marketta) Wilson and Danny Wilson, all of Lucasville; four sisters, Linda (Ron) McClurg of Lucasville, Patti Lute of McDermott, Mary (John) Ervin of McDermott, and Regina (Danny) Cline of Lucasville; brother & sister-in-law, Richard and Rosie Day of Eden Park; sister & brother-in-law, Jawan and David Dikeman of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, Rick was also preceded in death by three siblings, Keith, Larry and Tammie Wilson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 P.M. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Tyler Breech and Brett Wilson officiating, with interment in Scioto Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 P.M. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Rick loved to help people, and he gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
