Roy Herbert McKinney, 83, of Reynoldsburg, a former Minford area resident, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at The Grove, a memory care center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born January 31, 1943 in Minford, a son of the late Charles and Alma (Cordle) McKinney, and worked in many roles including owed a mechanics shop, was a General Manager of several restaurants including McDonalds, Taco Bell and Zantigo’s; after retiring he became a custodian for Upper Arlington Schools.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (VanVoorhis) McKinney; and sister, Ruth Jameson.
He is survived by one sister; Patricia Williams, five children; Rochelle (David) Roberts, Rhonda Calliari, Scott (Jamie) McKinney, Erica (Greg) Wright, Jeff (Holly) Gurney, eleven grandchildren; Cody Roberts, Kelsi and Kaden Calliari, Nicholas and Jeremy McKinney, Amanda and Emily Taylor, Connor, Garrett, Morgan, and Brandon Gurney, five great grandchildren; A’Liah McKinney, Sophia Calliari, Quinn Bauschard, Griffen Taylor and Burkley Gurney; and many nieces and nephews.
Roy enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Cincinnati Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeye Football team. He loved his music, including Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Elvis, and many others from this era. Roy had a passion for animals and had multiple pets at the same time, including multiple dogs, cats and even a pot belly pig. Roy loved to tinker with cars and had many of the classic favorites including: Corvettes, Chargers, GTOs and a Camaro. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and watching NASCAR in his spare time.
Funeral services will be conducted on February 9, 2026 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Cindy Church officiating. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery.
