Sally Joyce Reid, 90, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 12:45 pm. She was born December 3, 1934 at home, above the drug store, in Yellow Springs, Ohio, a daughter of the late John Chester Loe and Ellen Marie (Stroupe) Loe. Sally was a graduate of Bryan High School, Class of 1952, in Yellow Springs. She moved to Florida immediately after high school, attended Beauty School in Miami and met her first husband. She was united in marriage to William (Billy) Gale Collier, October 15, 1955, and this union was blessed with two daughters. Billy preceded her in death February 12, 1965. She then moved to Deerfield Beach and became the first female Postal Carrier for the city.
In 1970, she was blessed to marry her second husband, Allen K. Reid, who predeceased her on May 18, 1988. This union brought with it three children she loved as her own. She was also preceded in death by a great-great granddaughter, Cali Marie Roop, April 29, 2025. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Tallahassee and when in Scioto County, attended Harrison FWB Church.
Sally was known by her lovely, sweet smile and pleasant personality. She was loved by everyone she met and once she met you, she was your friend forever. She was known as the traveling grandma for years as she and Allen would travel and cruise the world. Some of her favorite trips were an African Safari and visits to Norway.
Her faith and Christian life were as beautiful as her love for Southern Gospel Music. She and her daughter, Teri, attended the National Quartet Convention for 25 consecutive years, until she was no longer able to travel. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, both in her church choir and specials.
She is survived by two daughters, Teri (Mark) Caudill, Barbara (John) Corven; three step-children, Thomas A. (Elizabeth Urata) Reid, Donald P. (Megan) Reid, Barbara (Shawn) Kelly; 10 grandchildren, Brian Seth (Carrie) Caudill, Scott N. (Jill McFadden) Caudill, Ellen Marie (Justin) Horsley, Kerry (Lee) Shell, Alison (Charles) Kennedy, Cortney (Celyn) Dezmain, Emily (Chris) Young, Katie (Tim) Green, Evan (Kelly) Kelly, Parker Kelly; 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter, another great grandchild expected soon, and her friend for 80 years, Joyce Duncan.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home, 6710 Swauger Valley Rd, Minford, OH 45653, at 11:00 am with Pastor Kenny Estep officiating, with visitation 1 hour before service. Internment to follow at Bennett Cemetery in Minford.
