Samuel Franklin Patrick, 76, of Lucasville, died Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at SOMC. He was born November 9, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Buford and Gwendolyn (Pugh) Patrick. Sam was a retired pipefitter from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local #521 in Huntington, WV. Sam was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, but his favorite hobby was spending time with all of his grandchildren and his great-grandchild.
Sam is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rosalie Riepenhoff Patrick; his children, Richard Patrick (Amy) of Lucasville, Paulette Weaver (Larry) of Minford, Samantha Crank (Dan) of Lucasville, and Joyce Patrick (John Zhu) of Kirksville, MO; a half-brother, Richard Lute (Lucy), and a half-sister, Ellen Boyterie (Robert), all of Las Vegas, NV. Sam also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Brian, Michael (Alaina), Nathan, Cole, Abigail, Alexis, Kelsey, William, Isa, Sophia, Elias, and Idris, and a great-grandson, Samuel, all whom he loved dearly. In addition, he is survived by two dear friends, Victor Colley and Charlie Kallner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Monday, November 3, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Fulton officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. A visitation for friends and family will be on Monday, starting at 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Sam to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
