It started as a dangerous call about a gun and a man threatening to harm himself — and ended with first responders making sure he was safe.
Just after 6:30 p.m., officers raced to the STAR Community Justice Center in Franklin Furnace after reports of a man armed with a gun and threatening to take his own life. Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies and Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers headed to the scene immediately, ready to intervene.
When they arrived, they found the man’s vehicle abandoned. Moments later, his wife contacted them to say he had returned home and told her he no longer planned to harm himself. Officers then notified the Greenup County Sheriff’s Department, who continued checking on the man to ensure he was safe.
