Scioto Valley Guardian (SVG) and Scioto County Daily News (SCDN) have announced their intent to host a town hall with the 2020 Scioto County Republican Sheriff candidates on Tuesday, April 14; it was announced by SVG’s editor Derek Myers and SCDN’s publisher, Mark Craycraft on Saturday. Co-moderated by the two, the event will stream 7:30-8:30PM/ET and focus on key issues of the 2020 election ahead of Ohio’s primary later this month.
The candidates that are running are Shawnee State University Police Chief David Thoroughman and Scioto County Sheriff Captain John Murphy. Current Sheriff Marty Donini decided this would be his last term as Sheriff. No other candidates have filed to run for the office.
In making the announcement, Myers said, “The Guardian and Scioto County Daily News have each proven to be a destination for all voices across the political spectrum. Now more than ever, voters recognize the critical importance of our platforms, comprised of a significant block of Independent voters and the largest social media audience in the area. We have invited both candidates for a substantive conversation.”
In making the announcement, Craycraft said, “I could not be more proud that SCDN continues to be a critical platform for all candidates in the 2020 election. With our social media audience in the county, we are eager to continue offering our followers a robust conversation with the top players that will shape our future.”
Viewers and readers are encouraged to submit their questions in video format and send them through email or Facebook to Scioto Valley Guardian or Scioto County Daily News by Monday at 3 p.m. The emails to submit are: [email protected] and [email protected].
The town hall will stream free on both publications’ social media pages, as well as their respective websites.
