A local elementary school asked Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies to check up on a student who hadn’t been to school in three weeks. They said initially, the mom said the child was sick, but later, she said the child had moved to another county with her father. However, the woman wouldn’t give the name or contact information for the father.
When school officials contacted school officials in that county to check up on the child, they said no one by that name was enrolled. Officials also contacted the child’s grandmother, who said she didn’t know anything about a father living in another county and sometimes the child didn’t get along with the mother’s boyfriend.
However, when officers went to the home, the mom contacted the child and officers were able to speak to her in a video call. The father said he would enroll the child in school ASAP.
Police advised the school that the child was okay.
