Scioto County Health Commissioner, Dr. Michael Martin, was caught flat-footed by a reasonable question from our SCDN reporter Cyn Mackley. The question was in response to the statement from Dr. Amy Action, the previous day, that face masks may be needed or required for up to one year.
Dr. Acton went on to say that “These masks and every Ohioan, no matter who they are, having access to them is going to be important.”
Since the comment was made by the Ohio Director of Health, it seemed fair to assert that the Scioto County Health Commissioner would have had some knowledge about this program. It also appeared that the implication of Dr. Acton’s statement regarding potential financial issues for obtaining these masks could, likely, fall on the Health Department to provide.
This was not a “gotcha” question for the Health Commissioner. Dr. Acton made the statement on Monday, we asked about it on Tuesday.
