Another busy day for Scioto County’s first responders on Tuesday, June 17, as the Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and fire crews answered a broad mix of emergency medical calls, traffic incidents, thefts, and suspicious activity. While detailed daily call logs are no longer provided to Scioto County Daily News following an illegal decision to “HIDE” the reports by the Sheriff’s Office in early 2025, we remain dedicated to sharing all available information to keep the public informed.
🚑 EMS & Fire: Medical Emergencies & Fire Responses
Tuesday saw a high volume of EMS activity with more than 30 calls for emergency medical assistance, many requiring transport to local hospitals:
- Medical Transports came from locations including Ohio River Rd, Glades Rd, Haverhill-Ohio Furnace Rd (chemical plant), Woods Ridge Rd, Randall House/Riverbend House, Labold Ave, Desco in Lucasville, SOMC Urgent Care on Ohio River Rd, Rosemount Rd, McDermott Pond Creek Rd, Colley Rd, Hogan St, King’s Daughter’s Family Care Center, Meadows Ln, South Webster Fire Dept, Camp St, and others.
- EMS crews also responded to several medical calls where transport was declined or not required, such as at St. Rte. 140 and 9th St.
- Fire units were dispatched for a vehicle fire near Arion Rd/Wrights Run Rd and a fire reported along St. Rte. 125/Upper Twin Creek-Rocky Fork area, both quickly handled.
- Traffic incidents requiring EMS included an injury hit-skip accident on US Hwy 52 W near St. Rte. 823 and multiple no-injury accidents on roads such as Weavers West Portsmouth and Cook Rd/Lucasville-Minford Rd.
🚓 Police Activity: Crime, Complaints & Investigations
The Sheriff’s Office logged a variety of criminal and suspicious activity reports:
- Theft Investigations were conducted at Kroger in Wheelersburg, Stoney Run Rd, and elsewhere.
- A prowler investigation took place on Houston Hollow Long Run Rd.
- Reports of neighbor complaints and disputes came from Oakwood Ave and Broad St.
- Several investigations of complaints occurred across the county in locations such as Calverts Ln, Scioto County Jail on 16th St, Mackletree Rd, Dixon Mill Rd, Custus St, Raymond Ave, Salters Creek Rd, and Columbia Ave (which included an arrest).
- Domestic complaints were noted but one was cancelled.
- Deputies responded to suspicious person reports at Riverside Park, Wendy’s in Lucasville, and other sites.
🚦 Traffic & Road Issues: Accidents, Jams & Enforcement
- Traffic enforcement warnings were issued on St. Rte. 823 at the 13-mile marker, St. Rte. 140 at Hastings Hill Rd, and the intersection of St. Rte. 104 and St. Rte. 73.
- Traffic jams and road blockages were reported at Woods Ridge Rd/St. Rte. 139 and other areas.
- One hit-skip accident with injury was documented on US Hwy 52 W.
- Other accidents with no injury included crashes on Cook Rd/Lucasville-Mainford Rd and Weavers West Portsmouth.
🚨 Other Notable Calls
- Several alarm drops were reported, including a false alarm at a business on Washington Blvd.
- Deputies also handled civil process duties and prisoner transports.
- Patrols continued in Clay Township, Long Ave/16th St, and other neighborhoods, ensuring visibility and community safety.
