Reports of screaming in the middle of the night prompted multiple calls to Portsmouth Police.
Around 1:19 am, a caller said people were screaming in the 2200 block of Grant Street. The caller said one person called out, “Don’t do this to me!”
When officers arrived on the scene, they detained two individuals and read them their rights before impounding multiple items from the pair. Police took information for a report.
Thirty minutes later, a Mound Street neighbor complained of a woman outside in the street screaming. Police responded to the scene but were unable to locate the source of the screaming.
Officers have contended with a number of reports of disturbances in this area lately, and members of the area Neighborhood Watch have expressed concern over crime in the neighborhood after several violent incidents in the past year in the past year, including the shooting death of a 4-year-old boy.
