Police arrested a second person in connection with a stabbing near Walmart in New Boston last week.
Officers booked Zander Daniels into the Scioto County Jail on charges of attempted murder, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and felonious assault just after midnight on Saturday. According to court records, Daniels turned 18 last July 4.
New Boston Police finally released a brief statement on the incident, confirming that two adults and two juveniles had been arrested in connection with a stabbing last Tuesday. The underage suspects were not named.
SCDN broke the story that Shelby Broughton, 18, was arrested on charges of attempted murder, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and felonious assault after the attack. Sources gave us Daniels’ name as one of the suspects. However, at the time, New Boston Police weren’t willing to talk about the incident. They confirmed to the press that masked suspects attacked a victim in a parking lot and that that victim was hospitalized.
A GoFundMe set up to aid the victim’s family alleges the boy was lured to the shopping center to buy shoes for someone in need and set upon by a group who intended to rob him. The young victim was airlifted to a Columbus Hospital to undergo emergency surgery.
Daniels has one previous arrest as an adult. He was busted for criminal mischief back in September. The court sent him to a first-offender program and scheduled a hearing to check up on his progress on February 5 of this year.
