The New Boston Police Department responded to the 4200 block of Rhodes Ave at about 4:45 pm on Wednesday regarding a domestic incident. The initial call was followed shortly by another stating that shots had been fired.
As soon as NBPD arrived, they requested immediate medical assistance.
After a short time, officers from the Portsmouth Police Department, Scioto County Sheriff’s Department, and Shawnee State Police arrived to assist.

Detectives from the Portsmouth Police Department were called to the scene.
One victim was transported to SOMC with one or more gunshot wounds.
During the course of the investigation, one male suspect remained on the scene and was taken into custody. There was a female witness who was detained.

An investigation into the incident lasted nearly two hours. The male suspect and female witness were questioned by the Portsmouth Police Department.
A source close to the investigation says the victim did not survive his injuries.
