A late-night scare rattled a Center Street household after someone fired a shot through a bedroom window while two people were inside.
The call came in just after 10 p.m., when the homeowner reported hearing glass break and realizing a round had pierced the window. Deputies rushed to the scene, checked the home for damage, and searched for evidence. Thankfully, no one was injured.
Investigators later recovered a pellet at the scene and determined the weapon was likely a BB gun.
Why It Still Matters
Law enforcement warns that BB and pellet guns may look like toys, but they can shatter windows, cause serious injury, and even be mistaken for real firearms in dangerous situations. Across the country, police have responded to life-threatening encounters when BB guns were mistaken for handguns or rifles.
Deputies say they will continue to investigate the Wheelersburg incident, adding that even if no one was hurt, firing into a home is never a harmless act.
