Portsmouth Police officers were unable to help a man with medical problems because he refused to leave his dog behind. The issue began just before 4 pm when the man called KDMC incoherently complaining of medical problems.
Medical personnel tried to get him to come to the hospital but he would only accept help if he could bring his dog. Police said he has long-term medical issues and had been trying to get help.

He was off some of his pain meds but refused to go to the hospital without his dog. Officers asked several times if he wanted to go to the hospital but he refused.
