What started as a bizarre early morning sighting turned into a full-blown police and EMS response on Old Post Road.
Around 3:41 a.m., concerned callers told Portsmouth Police that a woman in a sports bra was acting suspiciously — and may have been carrying a gun.
Officers rushed to the scene and took the woman into custody, but it quickly became clear that something wasn’t right. Rather than hauling her off to jail, they called for an ambulance.
Medics transported the woman to the hospital, while officers impounded several items from the scene — though they haven’t said yet what those items were.
