Shoppers at the Wheelersburg Kroger got more than just groceries Sunday when a bloodied man staggered up to the service desk claiming he’d been stabbed multiple times! 😱
Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies and EMS swarmed the scene, and naturally, SCDN readers blew up social media asking: “What the heck is going on at Kroger?”
🔹 The man told stunned store staff he’d been attacked at a home on Cartro Road during a fight over stolen belongings.
🔹 EMS tried to call in an air ambulance, but with bad weather grounding flights, the man was rushed to SOMC by squad.
But wait—the plot thickens…
🔍 When Deputies Dug Deeper, the Story Took a Wild Turn
🕵️♀️ Deputies split up, sending teams to the hospital and the Cartro Road home where the alleged stabbing happened.
📹 Security footage showed the injured man walking into the Kroger lot—bruised but walking.
🏠 At the home, deputies found:
- The alleged stabber
- His girlfriend
- Another mystery man
Turns out the girlfriend had a warrant for an unrelated case—so she was booked into the Scioto County Jail.
And the so-called stabbing? Not a knife in sight.
According to Detective Jodi Conkel, the real culprit was a large dog that got fired up during the fight and did the damage.
The alleged attacker? Cleared—and even got a ride home from deputies. 🚔
🐕 Moral of the Story?
Next time someone says they were stabbed, you might want to check for canine teeth marks before calling in the chopper.
Another day, another wild tale in Scioto County. Stay safe—and maybe keep your dogs calm when the humans start fighting.
