A worried witness called a school security officer to report he’d heard a man bragging about “choking out” his middle-school-aged stepson for having a crash with an ATV.
School officials immediately contacted deputies and spoke to the child. Officials noticed the child had bruising on his neck that looked like fingerprints.
The child admitted his stepfather choked him but said he didn’t want to get him in jail. After further questioning, the child admitted his drunken stepdad had smacked and got him in a chokehold, during which he passed out. He said his stepfather later apologized, and he accepted his apology. The child said this was the first time his stepfather had ever assaulted him.
Officers attempted to contact the stepfather, but weren’t immediately able to get in touch with him. The investigation continues.
