They’re back at it—and bolder than ever. Infamous local duo Sixx Bentley and Jesse James Carpenter are once again making headlines after yet another Walmart heist went sideways, this time in South Point.
Police were called to the South Point Walmart after Asset Protection officers spotted two familiar faces—men stuffing items into Walmart bags. One of them, who’d already bolted from a theft scene a month earlier, was seen meeting up with a blonde woman in a red shirt—you guessed it, Sixx Bentley.
When things got hot, both men ditched their carts and sprinted out to the parking lot, where they jumped into a waiting black 2007 Lincoln SUV with Ohio plates. Also in the getaway car? Bentley and another red-shirted female. The whole scene screamed repeat offense.
Asset Protection managed to apprehend Bentley without incident and escorted her to the office. That’s when things took an even darker turn.
Officers say they recovered stolen merchandise, a plastic vial of brown liquid that tested positive for fentanyl, and a large stash of syringes in Bentley’s bag. When asked why she was carrying so many needles, Bentley allegedly claimed they came from the Portsmouth needle exchange program.
Bentley was promptly hauled off to the Lawrence County Jail—but this isn’t her first ride in the back of a squad car.
A Criminal Romance Gone Wild
This notorious criminal couple has a rap sheet longer than a CVS receipt. Last year alone, they made headlines for back-to-back thefts at the Portsmouth Kroger and New Boston Walmart, fleeing one scene in a U-Haul and vanishing before cops could catch up.
And who could forget the time an elderly Pedro man reported his car missing after the couple, supposedly staying to “help care for him,” took off with his vehicle and didn’t come back for five days?
Then there’s the chaotic Walmart robbery last October, where a suspect allegedly hurled a cart of stolen goods into a getaway car, nearly running down bystanders and police officers in the process. That stunt led to grand jury indictments for robbery, assault, and theft.
With this latest Walmart caper, it looks like Sixx Bentley and Jesse Carpenter just can’t quit their life of crime—but the law is catching up fast. And this time, with fentanyl in the mix, the stakes are higher than ever.
