A concerned neighbor contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office after she spotted a strange woman at her door on Camp Street in Franklin Furnace.
She said the woman was carrying a suitcase with bags tied to it and had come onto her porch before going across the street to a vacant house. She said the woman was looking inside an empty outbuilding.
When officers arrived at the scene, they learned the woman was trying to get warm inside the outbuilding. An officer dropped her off at the Super 8 Motel to stay with her sister.
Just before 6 pm, a Wheelersburg business reported a man acting strangely in their parking lot. They said he was sitting in a car with a shattered windshield and shredded tire and kept getting out to walk around the business.
When officers arrived on the scene, they came to the conclusion the man was living in the car. He denied it and refused their offer to help him find a homeless shelter. He said he was just waiting for a friend to bring a new tire.
Officers requested that he move along.
