Deputies took a student into custody after a report of a fight in the girls’ bathroom at a local school.
A student told officers she was in the bathroom when another girl hit her, so she fought back. She said that she had been told she was going to be jumped and had a video to prove it. Officers viewed the video of a girl talking to other girls about fighting her.
When officers spoke to the other student involved, she said the first girl called her a nasty name, so she went back into the bathroom to fight her. When officers asked why she didn’t just walk away, she said she was sick of people talking about her. When officers asked about the video, she refused to answer.
Officers sent one student home and moved another to a classroom. However, the girl had a meltdown and told officers she had anxiety issues. When officers asked if she was on medication, she told them her mother shared her medication with her.
Police ended up placing her under arrest and taking her to the Lawrence County Group and Shelter Home.
