Sue Elaine Slone (88), a resident of Hillview Retirement Center, Portsmouth, formerly of Xenia, was born November 29, 1934, to the late Warren (Bud) and Melba (Cricket) Schneider. Sue passed away peacefully on September 21, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She was married to the love of her life, the late Lt. Col. Adrian C. Slone USAF Retired, for 34 years where they raised four children. Mark (Debbie) Slone of Newport News, VA; Cheryl (Charlton) Rodgers of Chattanooga, TN; Scott (Lindsay) Slone of Jamestown, OH; and Paul (Jennifer) Slone of Lucasville, OH. 9 grandchildren: Tara (Brent) Neitzel, Shaun (Courtney) Slone, Jim (Ashley) Rodgers, Kaitlin (Kenny) McClellan, Mason Leach, Norah Slone, Sarah Slone, Amelia Slone, and Madelyn Slone; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband Adrian Slone, parents Warren and Melba Schneider, brother Charles Schneider, grandson Ryan Rodgers, granddaughter Erin Rodgers, and grandson Reagan Slone. Sue was born in Sciotoville and graduated from East High School. She worked at Portsmouth Banking as a bookkeeper until her marriage in 1953.
The family would like to thank Hillview Retirement Center and SOMC Hospice Center for the excellent care they provided throughout her time at Hillview. Visitation will be held at D.W.SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE-NELSON CHAPEL) in Sciotoville on Monday, September 25th from 5-7 pm. There will be a graveside funeral service held in Xenia at the Valley View Memorial Gardens on Tuesday September 26th at 1:00 p.m.
