A suspect tried to grab an officer’s gun at the Oasis Convenient Mart and an 8th Street caller reported an abduction involving a vacant house. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Abduction Reported on 8th Street
Just before 3 pm, an 8th Street caller reported seeing a man drag a woman inside an abandoned house on 8th Street.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered a man inside the house but no female victim. They arrested the man for trespassing.
Pitbull on the Loose on 6th Street
A 6th Street resident reported a brown pitbull on the loose at 5 pm. The caller said the dog had already bitten one person.
Police were unable to locate the dog.
Camping Out at the Post Office
Folks were once again making themselves comfortable at the Post Office on Gay Street. Just after 8 pm, a caller reported two women in the lobby. One was hanging up clothes to dry near the doors and another was sitting on the floor.
Officers advised both women to move along.
Windows Shot on Elmwood
An Elmwood Drive Caller reported windows hot with either a BB gun or a real weapon just after 8 pm.
She said the incident must have happened sometime during the day.
Police took information for a report.
Man Attempts to Grab Officer’s Gun
A scary incident at the Oasis Convenient Mart at 9 pm. Officers responded to a report of a man in sweats and a hoodie yelling inside the store.
When officers detained him, he attempted to grab one of their weapons. Police took him into custody and dropped him off at the Scioto County Jail.
Worried Friends Seek Missing Woman
Worried friends contacted officers at 10 pm in reference to a missing friend. She’d only been missing for a couple of hours, but friends feared she might be suicidal.
One of the friends called back a few minutes later to report she’d been located at the hospital.
