Portsmouth Police officers responded to multiple reports of suspicious activity linked to drug use and vagrants. Here are some of the highlights from the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Just before 1 pm, a caller reported a man slumped over the wheel of a black vehicle near Mound Park, The caller said the vehicle was parked near the basketball court. Police could not locate the man.
At 2:30 pm, witnesses reported a man passed on top of an electrical box at Wayne Avenue and Kendall. By the time police arrived at the scene, the man was gone.
An employee of the BP on Gallia said a man was sitting under their sign asking people for food and money just before 4 pm. The business asked him to leave, but he refused. They said the man had a grocery cart with him. He left the area before the police arrived.
At 4:30 pm, a Center Street caller said a man kicked in the back door of a vacant home and threatened to burn the house down. He said the man appeared to be high. Police investigated and said there appeared to be nothing of value on the property.
Just after 8 pm, a 14th Street caller reported a tattooed man lying on the ground shaking. Officers offered assistance.
More trouble with unwanted guests at the Speedway. At 11:30 pm, an employee reported a man who refused to leave. When an officer advised him to go, the man complied.
