Suzanne S. Williams, 87, of Portsmouth, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the SOMC Hospice Center, surrounded by those she loved. She was born in Portsmouth on November 1, 1937, the daughter of the late Earl Edward and Thelma Louise Green Shumate.
Suzanne graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1956, and she was devoted to her family. She loved her dogs, sports and shopping. She also enjoyed her pool in the summertime and serving as an election poll worker.
She married Michael Hayden Williams, Sr., on December 4, 1971, and the couple had been married for 48 years at the time of Mike’s death on December 26, 2019.
Surviving Suzanne are three sons, David M. (Laura) Stroud of Portsmouth, Todd A. (Sherry) Stroud of Friendship, and Michael H. (Michelle) Williams, Jr. of Wheelersburg; a daughter, Michele (Harold) Reed of Lexington, KY; a brother, Ronald (Peggy) Shumate of Hixson, TN; nine grandchildren, David (Alisha) Stroud, Matthew (Sarah) Stroud, Peighton Williams, Isabella Williams, Carson Williams, Kathleen Stroud, Jordan Reed, Emily Reed and Josh Reed; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Riley, Kinley, Creed, Savannah and Haleigh Belle; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
She was also preceded in death by a son, John Jeffrey Stroud.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
