Get ready to say “adios” to some of your favorite Taco Bell menu items. The culprit? Taco Bell executives blamed COVID-19. They said in a statement that the virus inspired the company to analyze the way it runs its restaurants. “We want to ensure an easy and fast ordering experience for our guests and team members, while simultaneously opening up opportunities for even more innovation.”
The company decided to add some new menu items as well. Taco Bell said to expect more vegan options in the future and possibly the return of a few classics. Some items are only available if you order via the Taco Bell app. So, what’s on the way out?
Off The Menu
The following items are cut from the menu starting August 13:
Tacos
- Grilled Steak Soft Taco
Burritos
- 7-Layer Burrito
Specialties
- Nachos Supreme
Cravings Value
- Beefy Fritos Burrito
- Spicy Tostada
- Triple Layer Nachos
- Spicy Potato Soft Taco
Snacks
- Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes
- Loaded Grillers (Cheesy Potato, Beefy Nacho)
- Chips & Dips

The company said it realized many vegetarian favorites are gone. They suggested customers substitute beans for any protein.
What’s New?
The restaurant chain said it changed up the way it normally tests new menu items. Instead of everyone working in a test kitchen, employees met virtually and used kitchen simulations. Instead of focus groups testing the new food, the company used contactless drive-thru tastings.
Let’s take a look at what’s new on the menu?
- $5** Grande Nachos Box: Includes a layer of tortilla chips, a double serving of seasoned beef, refried beans, nacho cheese sauce, three-cheese blend, pico de gallo, guacamole and reduced-fat sour cream. It is available for a limited time only.
- Beef Burrito: This addition to the Cravings Value Menu costs $1
- Quesarito: This item is removed from the standard menu but you can still order the Quesarito digitally via the website or app.
