It doesn’t take long to go from hero to zero, and a woman who was recognized as the best educational professional in her state has now been suspended from her job because of an investigation into wrongdoing.
Jessica Grose was recently named the 2023 West Virginia Educational Service Person of the Year.
Now the teacher’s aide is under investigation for an incident involving a student at French Creek Elementary School in Upshur County.
The press release announcing the suspension didn’t go into details of what happened with the child, but noted the West Virginia State Police, The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, and the child’s family were notified.
The Upshur system is already struggling, with the state stepping in to take over control of the school system back in June of 2023.
The State Superintendent said that no further details of the investigation would be released in order to protect the privacy of the child.
