A couple of theft calls this week show just how bold — and sometimes messy — shoplifting cases can get.
🛠️ In One Case, A Familiar Face Keeps Coming Back
It looked like a routine walk through the store. Instead, it turned into another hit in a string of thefts.
According to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, loss prevention at Lowe’s reported a man entering through the lawn and garden section, heading straight to plumbing, grabbing items, and walking right back out without paying.
Deputies say the man loaded the items into a vehicle, then casually came back inside, spent a short time off camera near the restrooms, and left again empty-handed.
Store staff told deputies the suspect has targeted multiple locations and is easily recognizable, but has been difficult to catch in the act.
Using license plate information, deputies were able to track down a suspect after comparing surveillance images with BMV records. Charges are expected to follow.
🎯 In Another, Teens Run — And Bring Bigger Trouble With Them
What started as a shoplifting attempt quickly turned into something more.
Deputies were called to Walmart after three juveniles ran when loss prevention tried to stop them. The group jumped into a pickup truck and took off toward the highway.
Deputies quickly spotted a vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop.
Inside, they found the juveniles — along with the stolen items, identified as Splat-R-Ball guns and accessories.
That’s when things took another turn.
Huntington Police arrived on scene and told deputies they had been searching for the same truck in connection with reports of drive-by incidents involving similar guns.
The stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.
The juveniles were issued trespass warnings from Walmart properties and transported to the Lawrence County Juvenile Center. Parents were notified.
