Thieves have hit area businesses hard recently, frequently targeting them at night by busting their way in through windows and glass doors. A crook in a popular Chinese restaurant in the middle of the night and made off with the cash register.
Just before 8 am, a worker at a neighboring business called 911 to report that he’d just arrived at work and noticed someone had busted out the door to the Yummy Express in South Point.
When officers arrived on the scene, they noted that the glass in the door was completely broken, the metal bar was broken, and a rock was on the ground.
The deputy asked the owners to forward them their security video and checked with other businesses to see if they caught anything.
Video showed a maroon Chrysler making several passes before a man got out, busted the window, grabbed the cash register, and fled.
Officers noted he was wearing shorts and had a tattoo on his right calf. The incident is still under investigation.
