Thief Hides Under Hummer at Auto Lot
A suspected thief was caught in the act at Mike’s Auto Sales in Wheelersburg. Just after 2 am, the store owner contacted police to say he was watching a man stealing from the lot live on video. He called back a few minutes later to say the man was hiding under a Hummer on the lot.
Deputies couldn’t find the mat at first, but they did find some criminal tools. They contacted a local gas station to see if they spotted the guy anywhere.
The owner called back and said the video showed the man was hiding in one of the vehicles on the lot. Police took the man into custody at 2:53 am. They discovered the man had open warrants as well.
Andrew Lathem was booked into the Scioto County Jail on charges of breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools, possession of drugs, failure to appear, and probation violation.
