Thief Steals Keys to 22 Apartments
A scary situation for residents of a local apartment complex.
Just after 7 pm, officers received a report of a vehicle break-in at a Lawson Street Bar. The owner of the vehicle said the thief made off with keys to 22 area apartments, all of which were labeled with the addresses.
PPD officers notified the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, so they could step up patrols in the area. The owner of the apartments said they would change the locks in the morning.
Officers took information for a report.
Carryout Employee Scammed Out of Deposit Money
Officers received a report from the First Stop Market that an employee had stolen deposit money.
However, upon investigation, police learned the employee had been the victim of a scam and was not a suspect in the theft. Details of how the scam was perpetrated were not released by the PPD.
Officers were back at the First Stop later that evening for a report of a highly intoxicated driver on the lot. However, a neighbor took the man home, and the police were not needed.
Shoplifter Hits Super Quik
Just after 1 pm, police responded to the Super Quik on the Scioto Trail for a report of a shoplifter.
Employees said a man previously barred from the store for stealing was back inside taking more stuff. The man left before the police arrived. Officers took information for a report.
